How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The new goal that I did not had before receiving the transfer is starting a project of goats rearing. This was not in my mind since I did not had any capital. Currently I have three goats, I have devoted much of my time on this amazing project. Goats reproduce twice per year and it helps during the emergency. It can be sold gather for the emergency without much stress.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well since the process of registration was done fairy and everyone received the transfer as promised. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 10,000 to complete the construction of the new house that I started using the first transfer. We used to live in a small grass thatched house which was leaking from inside. We were being exposed to cold. This was so demoralizing and stressful especially during the rainy season. Currently we are no longer being exposed to cold, my children sleep well and they are very happy. I spent KES 13,500 to purchase three goats. This is the best investment since goats reproduce faster and helps during an emergency. I will sell to pay school fees for my son who is in secondary school. I used KES 3,000 to plough my farm and bought seeds and fertilizers. I expect to get good harvest since I planted at the right season. The rest of the money I bought food and clothes for my children.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was going on with my daily activities when I received an SMS notification on my phone. Upon reading the message, I became so happy and thanked God for the blessings. Having lived in a house with a leaking roof for not less than two years, I was certain that this transfer would help me put an end to this.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a proud owner of a dairy cow. It is almost calving and I am glad that my family will have enough milk for consumption and for sale to earn an income. Being a casual laborer with an average income of KES 200 daily, I hardly meet our basic needs on time and I am usually forced to take some loans to settle this needs. I am now glad since earning an extra income through milk sales will help me to meet most of our daily needs and to pay school fees for my children on time without taking loans.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been spending KES 50 daily on milk apart from other basic needs. As a casual laborer majorly working on people's farms and sometimes selling firewood to different people, my daily income is KES 200. This is usually not enough to feed my family of 5 since we buy all the food items needed and I should still save some to use in paying school fees for my children. When I received my transfer, I decided to buy a dairy cow worth KES 35000 so that my family will have enough milk for sale and for my family's consumption. Also, I spent KES 10,000 to purchase some iron sheets that I am planning to use in building an iron-roofed house. I settled on this since the roof to the one we currently live in always leaks during the rainy season. I spent the remaining KES 9500 on food to last my family some time and decent clothes for my children.
