How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Previously, I worked in people's farms in exchange of their oxen but I was given a day or two to use the oxen which was not enough for me to plough my farm land that often led to food shortage in my home since I used to plant in a small portion of land. However, when I received money from GiveDirectly, I bought oxen that will help me plough my piece of land come next year and I will not face food shortage anymore because I will be in position to plant in a larger piece of land that my oxen will plough.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well to give me cash that I spent to buy livestock. GiveDirectly has not done any thing bad on my side.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to purchase 2 cow, foodstuffs and paying my child's treatment.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has changed because I acquired my own bulls for ploughing my farm land on time. In addition, I now sleep comfortably in my thatched house as opposed to when I slept in a leaking house and hired bulls from other people to plough my farm because I never owned one.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received money from GiveDirectly, I felt extremely happy because I got money for buying bulls for ploughing my farm and renovating my house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought 2 bulls worth UGX 1,200,000, renovating my thatched house worth UGX 400,000 and bought household goods (utensils) worth UGX 100,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building and staying in a permanent house that is iron roofed and free from termite infestation. It is very expensive to renovate a grass thatched out every given te fact that finding grass for thatching is very difficult. Sleeping in an iron roofed house will enable me to save money that would have otherwise been spent on renovation.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is at around 2:00pm when I have come back from a hard day's work. It will find when I have found what to eat in my household and now waiting to enjoy the late lunch because, most of the time, I eat once a day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Having no reliable source of income is my biggest hardship. Currently, I am engaged in casual labour that is helping me to sort out daily family needs/challenges but it is not enough.
