How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I hope to have my own zinc house which I am working towards. In the next few years, living in my own house well plastered along with zinc roof will make me a happy person. I wouldn't have to work so hard to look for thatch to patch a house time after time.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly Giving me money to change my life is a good thing. They have reduced my suffering and given me peace in my heart. My face has changed to a happy face because I am always satisfied; unlike before where little things got me angry especially after a hard day's work. They haven't done any bad that I've heard about.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought two bundles of zinc to add to the first materials for my house project. I also used 4,000LD from my second transfer to purchase nails for the house project. I am building a new house because the thatch (parpo) does not last before it starts leaking. Getting new thatch from the swamp is a tedious process and it frustrates me. Whenever it rains, water falls in my house like there's no roof. There are many holes on my floor in the house from the drops of water. This is embarrassing for me and getting a new house was my first priority when GiveDirectly brought this help for us. I now have joy in my heart knowing that my condition is about to change.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had just come from the bush with fire wood on my head and I saw people happily moving up and down singing songs with Givedirectly's name. I asked what happened and a neighbor narrated to me that they were jubilating because the money GiveDirectly promised had arrived. I threw my wood bundle down and joined in with dancing. I was so happy and my feet even got dusty. I made plans to go for my money and buy my zinc for a new house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The difference in my life is the suffering that has reduced from my life. I do not have to walk in the swamp every time to look for thatch (parpo) to fix the house leakage; this particular act frustrated me every time it occurred. My children's school fees was a big challenge for me too; they have been sitting home for two years before GD came and helped me put them back in school. The happiness GiveDirectly has brought to me is immeasurable.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought one bundle of zinc using fifteen thousand Liberian dollars. I have a dream to use Givedirectly's transfers to build a new house because I am very tired patching the thatch house. I want to live in a good house without leakage. I also paid my two children's school fees out of my transfer and bought them school materials because once my children are educated, they will help me in the future and they will not suffer like me. My husband is sick as well, I spent five thousand on food items and took them to where he is seeking treatment.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have my children residing in fish town with their aunt going to school . Every month my husband and I usually send support in term of feeding, and every semester we paid their fees. In doing this we find it difficult by even selling huge portion of our crops to paid school fees. Therefore upon receiving this grant I will save huge portion of the transfer on my mobile money to enable us paid our kids school fees every semester. We will use little portion of the transfer to buy two bundle of zinc to enable us change the thatched roof from over our house because the roof is leaking.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months what brought happiness to me was that my daughter got promoted to junior high. It got me excited because all of my effort did not go in vein.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge We are facing is how to generate money to enable us paid our kids school fees. When we sell the crops from the farm, the money is insufficient to paid our kids fees and to even feed them.
