How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
What I hope to accomplish in the coming years is to see my cattle business expanding. I hope to see my animals being a lot (multiply) and bringing in money for my upkeep. I also hope to accomplish the completion of my house. Seeing myself in my own space will be a great joy for me because I will be respected and my voice will be heard.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The money GiveDirectly is sending us is a good thing. We used to struggle to get money in the past, but GiveDirectly has made life easy for us and I am grateful. They have no bad name as far as I know.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought one bundle of zinc along with 150 pieces of planks for my house project. I don't have respect at my current place I am sleeping. My neighbors always put mouth on me to get my own house. The owner of my current house is my small brother and because I am his elder, there is always insult lavished on me to get my own place. GiveDirectly has rescued me from all the disrespect that has been thrown at me in past time; very soon, I will be a house owner like other people and gain back my respect and dignity as a man. I also used 14,000 to buy cattle (one sheep and one goat). I bought the animals for business purposes; they will reproduce and I will sell the kids to get more money for sustainable growth.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was planting cocoa on my farm when my trustee reached me with information that he checked my phone and saw my money from GiveDirectly. I shouted with Joy upon hearing the news; I stopped work and started thanking God for such a great opportunity. I continued working after few minutes of jubilation and in the process, I was saying out loud what I'd do with the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the positive changes I am seeing. I was dirty because of the farm work, but now I can wear clean clothes because I do not have to go in the bush everyday. Seeing my son regularly in school is also a difference because it gives me happiness and joy. There is much peace in my heart and I wear a happy face everyday since I got to know about GiveDirectly money coming to me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used sixteen thousand from my transfer to buy one bundle of zinc and I also used seven thousand to buy one female goat as my cattle. I spent five thousand Liberian dollars on my son's school fees in fish Town. I decided to build a new house because since I've been a man in my community, people do not give me the respect I deserve because I don't own my own house. I used to sell bitterball before getting money to pay my son's fees and the farm wasn't producing enough to solve that problem; GiveDirectly cash transfer has helped me to get easy money to give my child education to enable him benefit himself tomorrow. I bought my goat as a form of a new business. As it matures and conceives, I will sell the kids to get more money to help my family and I in the future.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It has always been on my mind, to construct a zinc house of my own. This has been one of my major priority. I choose to construct a house because, the structure I am residing in currently, belong to my little brother. The house in question is a thatched house that is leaking and very cold more especially, during the raining season. I started the construction of the house by purchasing one bundle of zinc to start the project until I took ill. Therefore, upon receiving this grant, I will use huge portion of the money to build a house of my own. The remaining portion of the transfer will be use on my medication because I believe when I get well again, I will be able to do some farm activities that will give me money to take good care of my son.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last sick months, there was nothing that brought happiness to me because, since the beginning of this year, I been ill and there is no one to care for me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently the main challenge I am facing is the illness that is on me. Reason is, I don't have anyone who is willing to spend on me financially or to even take good care of me.
