What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Having worked in the construction sector for the past 4 years as a hands man I have gained a passion of upgrading myself to a mason .I plan to join a Technical vocational training institute where I can get a certification. This will enable me gain trust from contractors as well as give me an opportunity to be in charge of others. My daily incomes will also increase.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am a single man aged 24 who has been engaged in the construction sector for the past 4 years.Despite minimal wages from this work ,I am happy that I have been able to acquire numerous skills from my colleagues in the building sector. With this skills I foresee an easier way to successfully acquire a certification in masonry when I join Technical institution in the near future.Having a honest team that care and look after one another is what makes my work exciting , I am always happy and looking forward to going to go to work because of them.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Job security is the biggest challenge I am currently facing.I am a hands man in the construction sector since the year 2020. Securing a stable job in this era with my form four certificate of grade D+ has been unsuccessful ,I decided to join the construction sector doing handy works even though I am not satisfied with it .This work is energy draining, inconsistent in availability and has so much exploitation from the contractors due to high availability of labour force. In a week for instance,I can work for three days earning at most KES 500 a day. This money is limited when compared to my weekly expenditure of KES 1600.I end up having no savings hence foreseeing a challenging future for myself ,moreso having to delay in starting a family.
