What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
As a family of three, we depend on fish farming to earn a living. However, sometimes we run into losses because the fish can sometimes go bad or even you lack a customer. Therefore one will dispose of them. Now I hope to get a backup plan to fish trading, I plan on adding more goats to my current herd therefore secure a future for my family. I plan on spending KES 25000 on purchasing 5 goats. I also plan on spending 70000 on clearing school fees for my grandson in college. This will help him stay in school without worrying about being sent away to collect fees. I will be glad to continue with my fish business while diverting the profits to other family issues.
What is the happiest part of your day?
As a parent we always wish the best for our children. We often want them to succeed in life so that they can uplift our lives as well as theirs. I was particularly elated 1 month ago when my daughter inlaw came to visit me. She brought clothes and a few foodstuffs to sustain me the entire month . In addition, I am also appreciative of my daughter who visits me daily to assist with the fish trading business which my family of three depends on.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In this area around lake Baringo, fishing is an economic activity that earns more families income. My family is not exceptional. As a family of three , we depend on fish trading to earn a living. However, this business comes with its share of challenges. Two weeks ago, my customer in Kitale ordered fish worth KES 17000 which I delivered. Unfortunately, when it arrived there, she said that all the fish had gone bad and she had disposed of them. Although I had invested that much in the fish, I was not paid anything and therefore I ran into a loss. It is a loss that I have not recovered yet and it is stressing me because I do not know of the future business.
