How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life is that I am now stress free I do not think to much on how I will pay school fee for my two children. My children also now in a school learning very comfortably without worrying of them being sent home.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give did very well by taking us through the program before starting any operation, this helped so many people make a decision on the program and it has also helped people spend wisely. It was also a good idea using empesa as away of sending us the money because it is very safe.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have two children in secondary school, pay their school fee has been hell because I do not have any stable income, they were being sent home every now and then. Their performance also went down because they could not get enough time in school, they were missing most of the lessons. I was so much stressed that one of them almost dropped out of school because the arrears was now more than enough. When I received the money from give directly I was so happy that I could not explained I took the whole of the second transfer and clear their school fee arrears for my two children. I very happy because they are no longer being sent home for the arrears and their performance has also improved. It also gave me a chance to forcus on other developments.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means hope and happiness in my family. I would like to spend the transfer in constructing a new house that is modern and spacious. My current house is leaky and small in size. I would also like to spend the remaining part to pay school fees for my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I get hired to offer the casual labor in the nearby farms. This is my source of income that gets me paid so that I may buy food for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I am facing in life is lack of reliable source of income. I depend on casual labor that is seasonal. My children stay at home most of the time due to lack of school fees. This has since affected their academic performance
