How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I don't have any new goal. The only desire that I had prior to receiving my transfer was to build a house for myself, and that desire has been made possible by the transfer I received from GIVE DIRECTLY.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, from the way people are place on the program to the way the transfer are send to us is very great. In my thinking, GIVEDIRECTLY is doing everything well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am going to spend my transfer on zinc, nails, sticks, food, and school fees for children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have to burn charcoal to send my children to school and the work is very hectic. Though the money that GiveDirectly is giving us will not be paid back, I don't want to lavish the money on things that will not bring benefit to me. Now that GiveDirectly has come with this help and they told us to put the money into anything good that will benefit us, I think that if I use the money to send my children to school; I will also benefit in the future. If my children are sent to good schools and educated, I will benefit a lot. If you look at the zinc on my house, you will see that it is very old and leaking. We are in the rainy season and most times I can go to attend to my charcoal business. Every time, before heading out, I have to place buckets to spots that are leaking because if I don't, I will meet my things wet. So, the next thing I will do is to take some of the money and change the zinc over my roof.
What is the happiest part of your day?
What has brought me joy is that I am being counted amongst the living and I am healthy and strong. Though I am not rich, but I thank God for my life and all the blessings He has showered upon me. Another thing that made me happy was when my son was promoted to the 8th Grade class. Going through this hardwork and seeing him making me proud, I was very happy amongst other parents whose children were promoted also.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My main challenge is to get money. Getting money for me is so hard that, if I don't do hard struggle, I will not have anything to support my family. I will have to stay on the coal base til it bursts. If not, I will not gain anything from there and all my strength will go in vain. So, getting money is my major challenge.
