How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The GiveDirectly cash transfers have a put a smile on my face. I am very happy because I acquired an oxplough and hired farming land. I intend to increase my food crop production yields this season. In the past, I could not afford to purchase an oxplough nor hire additional farmlands. I am very happy that GiveDirectly has made my life very comfortable. I can afford to buy my children basic necessities.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to send me the cash transfers because I was really in need. I had many obligations but did not have money to acquire them. However, personally I do not have anything to say that GiveDirectly has not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer to purchase an oxplough and household items like mattresses, bedsheets, and utensils.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that, I now have hope for a better future compared to life before that was full of uncertainty. The bull will support in opening the land that I have reclaimed by paying off the debt for which I had mortgaged it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my first cash transfer, I felt happy because my family problems would be sorted. I have been having challenges in opening land for crop cultivation but receiving this money meant that, it was no more.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer worth UGX 1,200,000 for buying a bull that I intend to support the family for ploughing land for crop cultivation. The balance of UGX 500,000, I spent on paying a debt of money that I had borrowed for meeting medical bills for children.
