How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Although it was the use of my first transfer, my life is truely different in that, I am happy and relieved having managed to pay up a debt (bank loan) worth Ugx 2000000 that my husband and I had got to open up our general merchandise shop. Prior to getting this money, I always doubted if we would ever get that money paid and our last resort was to sell off some assests we had to clear that loan. Secondly, I am delighted to see that I was able to start up another business (saloon) and at the same time, boost my existing one (general merchandise shop). This will now be a source of income to my family. However, before getting this transfer, my general merchandise shop was at a verge of collapsing and I had no where to look to get money to boost it.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money that has enabled me to develop my self in many ways like open a saloon, stock my shop, among others. On the other hand, there is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy building materials such as bricks, cement, sand, timber, nails, iron sheets, and paying labor that helped to build a one roomed house. I used this room to open a saloon. I then bought some equipment like mirrors, bulbs, battery, and a power stabilizer. I then used the balance to buy more stock for my general merchandise shop.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
When I receive this money, my husband and I are going to expand our retail shop business to a wholesale shop. This money is an opportunity for us to do this because we were planning to sell off all crops in the store. So that is the same business that will cater for our children's school fees and buy cows for both ploughing and diary.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I'm concentrating on the shop business. I always feel relaxed whenever I'm in the shop.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is lack of sufficient funds to expand the business and improve on agriculture. Currently we are just buying food which is expensive.
