How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is better now because I have bought a piece of land and an ox to facilitate agriculture. Before I got the transfer life was not easy, I used a hand hoe to plough my land and worked as a casual labourer for survival.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly did well to give me the phone that they used to connect to me and for receiving the cash transfers. Whenever they called me, I felt so happy and could even sleep well that night. There is completely nothing wrong with their work.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer for buying a bull at UGX 1, 400,000, the balance I used for buying two mattresses and food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be in position to buy oxen for ploughing, buy beddings for my children because the ones they are currently using are really in a poor state.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am drinking local brew at a bar with friends. I am able to dance and share with my friends.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money. I am not able to provide for my family as I would wish to. An example is the fact that I do not have oxen to help open up fields for crop production and yet I have enough land that would provide enough food for the family.
