What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second cash transfer for buying cement, timber, iron sheets, nails and whoop irons and completed payment of labour for the constructors towards completion of construction work. I spent some money on feeding both the builders and family members.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done well to give me cash transfer that has supported me to construct my permanent house. I didn't Imagine that I would construct a house like the one I own now. I do not find gaps in GiveDirectly's operations.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently, my life has changed in that I am happy because I sleep in a better iron roofed house. prior to this cash transfer, I used to sleep in a poorly thatched house that would leak whenever it rained.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent UGX1,500,000 to make and bake bricks and UGX100,000 to purchase a bed and a mattress. Then I spent UGX100,000 to buy food.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited to receive this money and I was very happy because my grass thatched house was falling down. As you may know it is very expensive to maintain a grass thatched house. However when I received the cash transfer, I was overjoyed because this was the only chance I had to construct a good house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My home is now decent and comfortable because I sleep on a comfortable bed. More so very soon I will be sleeping in a nice iron roofed house.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is poor accomodation and lack of oxen for ploughing
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I wake up healthy including members of my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building iron roofed house for my family.
