What does receiving this money mean to you?
"If I'm successful to receive this cash transfer from GiveDirectly, I will use some of the money to build a house and use the balance to start a business for my wife which will bring so much joy to my family. The house my family and I live in belonged to my little brother. My house got damaged in May 2020, and I also lost my son that same year. My family and I became homeless after our house got damaged, my little brother gave me one room in his house for my family and me to stay in. I cut palm and sell it as means to sustain my family, my wife is not doing anything. The money we get from the palm, can't sustain the family at the same time build a house. I will appreciate any help from GiveDirectly to improve my livelihood.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, what has brought me joy or happiness is when my wife's oldest sister took our two children in January 2022 to stay with her in Kanweaken and go to school. It brought me so much joy because looking at their ages and they were not even in school but the fact that she came and help us send them to school brought so much happiness to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The biggest hardship I'm facing now is money. Even though I cut palms and sell them as means to sustain my family, the money I earn from the palm is used on food and besides my wife is not doing anything to help with some responsibility of the home. The house my family and I live in belonged to my little brother. My house got damaged in May 2020, and I also lost my son that same year. My family and I became homeless after our house got damaged, my little brother gave me one room in his house for my family and me to stay in. I'm not satisfied with my living, I feel bad about my living conditions. I will appreciate any help from GiveDirectly to improve my livelihood.
