How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have successfully moved into a three roomed permanent house that I completed with the second cash transfer. I am very happy for this because I was living under a small untidy thatched house. The fact is, we would still be suffering and living under a leaking thatched house. Whenever it rained at night, we stand till morning and this made the family very uncomfortable. Nevertheless, GiveDirectly came to our aid and gave us hope and the choice to redeem our standards of living.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done only great things for the community through sending them the cash transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase household items such as a table, chairs, a mattress, curtains, clothes and water tank. I purchased one door, window and 2 bags of cement and paid the builders too. I also bought school uniforms.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has changed positively in that, I have built an iron roofed house that I will move in to after fitting door and windows with my second transfer. I am now very happy to have accomplished my dream of constructing an iron roofed house. I had made bricks 3 years ago with the aim of constructing a house but I didn't have enough money to purchase other building materials and to pay for construction workers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the mobile money message at around 3:00 AM, I went ahead to check my account balance and I truly believed that I had the money. I was overwhelmed my joy after confirming that I had the money because my desire to construct a specious iron roofed house was going to be accomplished.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer purchase timber at UGX 350,000, 2 trips of bricks at UGX 550,000, a trip of sand at UGX 150,000, binding wire at UGX 50,000 and paid for construction workers at UGX 400,000. In addition I bought food at UGX 200,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Givedirectly transfers I will spend to build iron-roofed house for my family. I have suffered a lot from rates and termites that are always destroying my grass thatched roof every year. The house whenever it rains leaks and my children keep on getting pneumonia which is costly to treat.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My favorite time is evening hours when Iam sharing a meal with My children. I smile while chatting with them and it makes me forget my misfortunes for that day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My challenge is lack of Better source of money for educating my children. My children are in a private primary called st . Peter's Maga but are always sent home because Iam un able to pay school fees in time and this is affecting thier performance.
