How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it would have been had I not received the transfer because we are now feeding well. Currently, we eat three meals a day unlike before when we used to take one or two meals a day. This was possible because I was able to use my transfer to buy some food and to practice timely cultivation. Due to this, there was an increase in production this year and I believe that it will last us till next harvesting season. Aso, I believe my cow will be calving soon and I will no longer be buying milk and this will reduce my daily expenditure.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well by enrolling everyone without any discrimination and treated everyone equally.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I have been buying milk daily. When I received my second transfer, I spent some amount to build a spacious kitchen for my family since the one we had was old and its roof was always leaking. Also, I bought a dairy cow as an added asset to my household. When it reproduces, we will have enough milk for our consumption. I spent the remaining amount to buy food and other household necessities for my family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have bought a heifer. I used to buy milk and it's so costly for us. We do casual jobs in the village. The amount of money we get from these jobs is so small and cannot gather for all the basic needs of the family. Sometimes we could go without milk when we had no jobs to do and this was a big challenge because we have small children. During the school days, my children at times could go to school without taking the breakfast and this was demoralizing them and this was affecting their performance. Currently, we are living happily with my family.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money I felt so happy. I remember it was very early in the morning when we received the message. It was my spouse who heard the message and when he checked the message he was so happy and he waked me up to inform me of the good new. We really celebrated because we have never received such amount of money before in our entire lives. We are so grateful for the support.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying a dairy cow, sofa set seats and the rest of the money I used it to buy food and clothes for the family

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My plan has always been to diversify my farming practices. Initially, I have been planting horticultural crops but with the help of this cash transfer, I will be able to expand and also practise dairy farming. As a result, receiving this money will be a welcoming boost to my already set small scale farming.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I normally wake up at 6:00 a.m in the morning and have breakfast with my family. I then head to my farm until evening where I ensure that I have done weeding to the already existing crops and also do some transplanting. In the evening, my family members come to the farm to take some vegetables for supper and during this time, we all enjoy doing some cultivation as we share family jokes. This normally constitutes my happiest part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to the unpredictable weather condition we are experiencing in my region, my crops have not been doing well on a regular basis and more so there are periods I normally don't cultivate anything. This is due to inadequate/no rainfall and at these times, I normally fall short in catering for the needs of my family. This creates the biggest hardship of life.
