How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that I was able to get back my farm land that I will now largely cultivate on without being snared at. Prior to getting this transfer, I only had a small part to farm and my family in most cases was stuck by famine.
In addition to this, I am happy that I have also managed to uplift the standard of my living because I was able to buy some household items (Solar, bed, mattress, utensils among others)that I did not have. Before getting this money, I used to get to an extent of begging utensils, chairs among other things from the neighbourhood.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money that has enabled me to get back my farm land (although it was given out before I got married here).
On the other hand, there is nothing bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy a cow at Ugx 745000.
I then added Ugx 200000 to the cows I had bought using the first transfer to pay up a debt of my farm land.
I then bought some food, clothes, solar and some miscillinious items.
I am then saving up Ugx 400000 that I plan to use as need arises.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is happiness I feel seeing that I was able to get back my land that we had given out to treat my husband. I really had no hope of ever getting this because when I think of it, I had nothing to give to recover the land as most of the assets had gone to pay for my husband's treatment.
In addition to this, I am happy as I see my house has improved in its out look as I have quality things (curtains, nice utensils, bed, mattresses among others) that beautify it.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I prayed and told God how I was not worthy to get this money but still thanked Him for this kind of blessing. However, I felt happy because this money was going to fully help me in a way that I had always prayed.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy some house hold items such as a bed, two mattress, clothes, utensils (plates, cups, flask, source pans, food basket), mat, radio, curtains, back bag, shoes, solar, three jerrycans, charcoal stove, uniform, sacks to store my harvest and stoked some food stuff that I would be using to feed my family.
I then bought two cows that I used as payment to get back the land that we had given out in exchange for money to treat my husband when he had gone mad.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My spouse is an orphan and during the period of our marriage, he had to sell two acres of land. This was intended to raise money for dowery that was given to my parents. My family has limited land to cultivate crops. Iam able to produce little from farming because of no land. Therefore my priority is to first obtain farm land with this money. I will be in position to increase on crop production that can sustain my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When my children are able to eat at lunch I feel relived. Iam able to plan with less stress on how to sustain the family. This because during morning Iam moving up and down doing casual labour to find what they eat.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My spouse has a metal problem where by Iam always on and off from home to find asolution for his health. This is not allowing me engage in to farming, which is possing a great danger of hunger since I do not have any other income generating activity.
