How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers enabled us clear school fees and buy food at home. In the past, we had to toil alot through agriculture to make ends meet. Life was very hard then. GiveDirectly saved us the hustle of searching for school fees. I also plastered and completed my house. This would not have been possible considering the weight of responsibilities on my shoulders.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has been truthful and honest in its operations. They send transfers to all the vulnerable and the poverty striken without segregation. In a nutshell, they have done only great things.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second cash transfer was spent on purchasing cement, sand and stones for construction. I also paid school fees with part of the cash transfer.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to complete my house. I build iron-roofed house but left it unfinished. My family has been sleeping in this house without cemented floor, no plaster and all insider doors lacking. This has possesed a great risk of crawling insects and snakes since holes are visible within the wall. My family members are always at arisk of snake bites.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Iam somes times enjoying chatting while advising my children on how to grow as better citizens. This normally happens in the evening after eating super. This has brought a spirit of togetherness in my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is poverty. My children are studying both in primary and secondary schools but Iam failling to pay their fees. This because Iam mainly depending on cultivation as a source earning. Also I lack food for feeding my children since what I fetch from cultivation is not enough to take care of the required needs.
