How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been had I not received the transfer. This is because I now have some goats which are assets to me that I can rely on in case of financial challenges. Also, I have been able to build a more spacious house for my family and due to this, my children no longer have to sleep in kitchen like before. This has made them so happy as they can sleep till the time they feel like waking up during the weekends. Also, their privacy is now we'll guaranteed.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own opinion, GiveDirectly does well by helping people in the society and I do not see anything that they do not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When I received my transfer, I spent KES 20,000 to buy some household necessities that we needed. I bought some beddings and seat cushions. I settled on this to replace the old ones that we were using and since they were also not enough. Using the remaining amount, I bought some clothes and food for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around eleven o'clock in the morning when I received a short message notification and I was so eager to read it's content. Upon checking, it was Mpesa message indicating that I had received KES 55000 to my mobile money account. I felt so happy for I knew that the money would enable me to achieve all that I had been planning. I thank God for sending GiveDirectly my way.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the privacy that we now have as parents after having a separate house for our daughters Before they couldn't change thier clothes at thier convenient time and this would bother me as a mother. Now they got thier own room where they can live freely.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My first transfers which I received from GiveDirectly, I spent KES 20000 on purchasing building materials for constructing a new house for my girls. This was my first priority since we had only one house where we would occupy with my teenage girls and this isn't accepted in our culture. I also bought two goats for rearing at a cost of KES 7500. This would act as an investment to remember good deeds by GiveDirectly. I was lacking some clothes and food and I committed KES 17000 on buying two sacks of maize, utensils and a few pairs of clothes for my family members. Lastly, it was time for my two children to go back to school and I gave them KES 4000 for thier bus fare and pocket money. I am so greatful that I got these funds which enabled me to transform my livelihood and that of my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving money from GiveDirectly means alot to my family. We have been dreaming of building a better kitchen, this kitchen acts also as bedroom for my children. The challenge I am having with the current one is the leaking roof. I have not been happy as a parent seeing my children complaining always of it, more so when it rains at night they have to seek shelter else where. I will be a happy parent after constructing a better kitchen by using around 20,000 shillings from this transfers to purchase building materials and the remaining amount I will purchase a dairy cow because the one I have now is not mine.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is in the morning. It is at this time because I have woken up healthy and ready to begin my usual duties. As a housewife, I am supposed to do household chores then proceed to my farm to weed my vegetables.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship in our life is financing treatment for my sick child. I have visited several hospitals seeking better medication for him and it has costed me a lot financially. There was a time I was forced to sell my one dairy cow to raise the hospital bill.
