Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Being the first time to earn a big amount of money in my life the moment when i received my transfer i was very happy because it was enough to end poverty in my family.

All my life i have been living in a very poor house and i did not expect that some day i would build one. Thanks to GiveDirectly because now i have built a house with iron sheets roof. In addition to that my family was facing acute hunger because i harvested very little yield this due to climate change, but today i have purchased enough food which can cover my family for more months. All these have been possible with funds received from GiveDirectly. Therefore there is the biggest difference in my daily life

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very glad to be enrolled into this program. As a widow who is struggling to take care of ten children and grandchildren, this money is a relief to both me and my family. We have a small house which gives us problems in terms of sleeping space as we also store our harvest in the house.
Hence,this money will be used to construct a better house with iron sheets as well as other utensils for drawing water and preparing food. These things will make our life a bit easier as this means we shall have enough sleeping place and a good storage space for our harvest every season. The children too will be happy as they will not be crowded in a single room when sleeping.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Since am a woman of old age, I just like chatting with my family and learning from them how their life is going. I also get the chance to be advising them on different issues so that they grow up to be responsible members of their community.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our family relies heavily on farming. If we do not harvest enough then it means more hunger within the household due to the large family. Its very rare for us to be affording food and other needs from the proceeds of selling maize as we also need to keep some for the family.
This situation always lead to scarcity of basic needs every time as the maize is never enough to sell some and earn some money.
