How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My ability to farm has greatly improved from how it was four months ago. I invested better in farming using the money I received from GiveDirectly. Unlike the previous planting season , I bought certified maize seeds and planted them. Usually, I use maize seeds that are not from seed companies that contributed to heavy crop failures as they were completely destroyed by a disease. My current crop is well established and looks better than the previous one with no single one of them showing signs of disease attack. I know I will harvest thi time round. Food for my family will be in plenty and also income from selling part of the harvest.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to buy a cow using the money that I am going to received from my merry go round group in the next four months. I will do this so that I get to produce milk. This will be a good additional income that I am sure is more stable than the one from construction work.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is in food sufficiency inmy family. My job in house construction is not reliable as it is not available all the time. The money form GiveDirectly cushions me when I fail to find work on certain days of the month. I helped me over the last two months during which no construction work went on in the village because parents were focusing on paying school fees as children resumed the term. All my clients' construction projects were halted and this meant that nothing came to my pockets. I thank God that I always put aside apart of money from GveDirectly for such rainy days.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect the money I received to have improved my life. I will have a dairy cow that will make me a stable source of income. Using the money from my merry go round group, I will look for a mature cow that will immediately begin milk production. I also expect to have a bumper harvest because my maize farm is doing so well at the moment. In the next six months, food and income shall be incoming from this investments that are only possible because of the transfer.
