Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I saw the message very early in the morning at around 6:00 am and there woukd not have been a better way to begin my day well than the way I did. I could not share the good news with anyone fir fear of being defrauded by conemen. I withdrew the money the same day since I had already made up my mind on what I needed to do with it.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly is the poultry project that I have since started. This will be an alternative source of income for me and family and will cushion me during times that I do not get any contracts with my plumbing job. I have already built the poultry house and just waiting for the second transfer to be able to buy chicken and start off the project.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 35000 to fence my compound and build a poultry house. The remaining amount was used to buy food, clothes and to improve my plumbing job by buying a machine that helped me with my plumbing work. I chose to invest in poultry keeping since this was a project that I could easily run without affecting my plumbing work as much and which would provide me alternative source of income at the event that I did not make any income from from my plumbing work.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a disappointed professional plumber with no personal work tools. I usually get short contracts but I sometimes fail to deliver because borrowed equipments are not guaranteed. This forces me to be a casual laborer. If only I could posses my own tools and equipments, I am certain of plumbing work with the current growing Sigor town.
What is the happiest part of your day?
From February 2022 rains have been plenty and that is my source of joy. I have planted maize in my small piece of land and hopefully I will harvest approximately 7 bags in June 2022.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Currently I feel sad working as a casual laborer. Initially I worked as a plumbing maintenance officer in an hotel industry but COVID-19 paralyzed the operations and I was dismissed from job.
