Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal is to continue paying school fees for my children. They are almost doing exams and I wouldn't want to fail them by not playing my part. The end year exams are very crucial because it was determined whether or not they will be promoted to the next class.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that nowadays I can easily pay school fees for my children. I am happy because, without the transfers, I would have to strain myself by working extra hours on tea farms. I was able to revive my chips business using the transfers. The income from this business is really helping me run my home. It had collapsed a few months before Give Directly came into my life and this would have gotten me into deeper problems.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will be harvesting some cabbages crop that I will have planted. I am planning to invest in order to ensure that I maintain a source of income even after the transfers. To do this, the money that I have already invested in the current crop will act as the seed money that will never be spent on anything but plowed back. I am so grateful that I took part in this project.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I feel more empowered since I can do farming unlike before when I used to rely on casual jobs.I am optimistic that I will have doubled this season as compared to before. My happiness as a mother is to always see my children have better access to their daily basic needs and provide them with a good environment to build their future. I live with my children in my father's house and besides the struggle, I always put to make sure that we get daily basic needs. I have had a goal of living independently with my children to reduce pressure on my parents and also enjoys my comfort. My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have been empowered by Give Directly to do more of my work. I do better farming that has improved our food production which has not only reduces our daily expenditure but has also made us have enough food unlike before. I am currently saving some money on a monthly basis that will help in future build my own family and this will be my happiness since I would not have done if it was not for GD
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My biggest aim is to have my own home with my children. Unfortunately, I have limited resource to enable me to realize this at once. Therefore, my additional goal for my life in the next four months is to buy a cow since it will help us in milk production for both household consumption and sales. I am hopeful that there will be a reduction in our daily expenses thus improve my savings for the achievements in my future goals.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
It is always my wish to bring up a healthy and happy family thus I work hard to make sure that I meet my daily household basic needs and save some income for future needs and emergencies arising. I am a casual laborer and subsistence farmer and due to the scarcity of casual jobs, I always find it hard to raise a living for my family. I am a single mother with an aim to live independently with my family but the limited resources I have has not given me a chance to realize my goal. The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding my current transfer is the step I have made toward having my own home. I am hopeful that I will soon have some money from merry go round I joined after I started receiving the monthly transfer from GiveDirectly that will help me build my own house that I can live in with my children independently.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have improved my farming mechanism and employed the use of hybrid seed and artificial fertilizer to bring better products. Therefore, in the next six months, I expect to have enough farm products for both household consumption and sales hence will have minimal expenditures and enough food in our home. I see myself to be at a higher step toward realizing the goal of having my own home since will be saving more than I do now.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Initially, I did not have the capital to start a small business but with a transfer from GD, I have managed to start a small business. This has given me a good income to sustain my family. Nowadays the school fees payment is no longer stressing me like before. I am happy now as a parent because I know I would not fail in my responsibilities anymore.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to buy a dairy cow. Buying milk every day is quite expensive. I have been dreaming of having one of my own. This will help me to use the money in meeting other needs. I have started saving the transfers through table banking, this will enable me to achieve my goal.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that the transfers have enabled me to pay school fees on time. Before my children could stay at home because of arrears. The little income I get from a small business I have could not be enough for us to cater for both school fees and food. Mostly I could prioritize to have food on the table leaving school fee payment which resulted in staying at home.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to have a changed in the next six months in that I would have bought a dairy cow. This dairy cow will give at least KES 200 as an income through the sale of milk production. I will achieve this through the savings I have in our table banking and the income I get from my small business selling boiled eggs.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I am at a better financial standing. I am not 'embittered' by lack as I used to be. What I earn from my business can now go to savings for school fee. I am also optimistic to even work harder and progress economically.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to save the next 4 transfers that Give Directly will send me and combine with our annual bonus from selling tea leaves to buy a good breed cow that will give us milk for sale. I will get an income that will help us in future for basic needs such as school fee.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
First, I want to say thank you for Give Directly transfers. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I now wear a suit which I earlier could not afford because I could only afford food for the household. Now that I can buy food using the transfer, I can use the funds that would have gone to food to buy clothes which I used not to afford.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to be economically better because I will have multiple sources of income in the next six months. I will not be suffering as I used to because of lack of funds yet many needs. I will have milk for sale, revenue from selling tea lea leaves and Give Directly monthly transfers. These sources will lift my economic status and I am happy about this hope that I have.

I now have a goal of joining a merry goal round group with some of my neighbors so that when its my turn, I can use the money to buy a calf so that I can be able to also sell milk to other people and stop buying them. This will make me save the money I usually use in buying them.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life currently has changed slightly since I now have two chicken which I did not have before and would not have bought it had I not received these transfers.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My life will have changed since I will have bought a calf and will be having hope that I will no longer be buying milk the way I am doing right now.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My mum is a single mum and has single-handedly raised me and my siblings. I had to drop out of school due to lack of school fees to pave way for my younger siblings to study. I also had to look for casual job to help with the needs of the family. My inability to continue schooling has made it difficult to get employment and have a good job. This has been my biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of the day is in the morning when I wake up, thanking God for enabling me see another new day and feeling fully energized to tackle the chores of the day.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on expanding my business of selling boiled eggs from one tray to five trays. Moreover, I want to start poultry farming so that I get eggs for my business from the chicken I keep.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
Despite not having a piece of land to start tea farming-which has been my dream, I have been able to carry out tea buying and selling business from the nearest farmers. This business has enabled me provide for my family needs and to save little by little which I intend to purchase a piece of land with. This is the achievement I am proudest of.
