Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months I have a new goal to purchase a cow. I have been participating in the Merry-go-round which I joined and I am soon expecting my turn. With this in mind I have made up my mind to put aside 20000 KES out of the contribution so that I may buy a cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the independence which I got after receiving this money from GiveDirectly. I used to seek assistance from my mother since for a long time before the transfers came, I was unable to work on my farm due to my health status. Currently I can sort all the bills including school fees since I have been receiving this money consistently for the last two years.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have purchased a cow. This I am so sure of since I am expecting the lump sum contribution from the Merry-go-round.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four is to buy water tank. I am currently saving some part of the monthly transfers and so far this dream seems achievable. Everything is working out well and there is hopes of fulfilling this dream. We currently fetch water from a water point that is very far which becomes very slippery when it rains. We are times forced to fetch water during such moments because we don't have a storage tank.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I no longer go begging. Since I did not have a source of income, I was sometimes forced to borrow in order to survive. This now a forgotten story since I am an independent woman now! I am also glad that the transfers has allowed to me plant on time and in season. I used to delay or not plant at all because I could not afford the seeds and other requirements to plant. I am grateful that I now plant on time and the returns will hopefully be huge.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the near future is to be in a position to take my child to college. She finished secondary school and I could not afford to pay her college fee. I also want to buy my own cow. I currently keep someone's cow and I can't imagine staying without one in case the owner takes it away. This, while being a valued asset, it will also be a source of income from the sale of milk.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life has really changed. Since I am a widow and I have no one to support me, makes me work twice as much as I would have worked If I had a husband. When Give Directly came into my life, a few expenses have been paid and much progress made which puts me in a better place. I feel empowered. Through this help I have been able to transplant tea seedling from the nursery, I also managed to put up a tea leave seedling that I have transplanted with the support of monthly transfer and with time I will be earning from this tea farming. With these projects, I can now easily afford both personal and basic household needs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal for the next four months is to save part of my transfers with the purpose of buying a big water tank. I always feel like I am wasting a lot of time walking a long distance in search of water. Since I recently joined a merry go round after I started receiving the transfers from Give Directly, I believe that I will get a good amount of money when my turn comes. I will combine the savings and finally buy the water tank
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months ever since Give Directly came into my life is that I am no longer worried in life. I am happy and ambitious because most of my plans and goals are accomplished in time since I have the means to do so. I recently managed to pay the school fee for my children. I am a widow who primarily depends on farming to provide for my family. I can't say am badly off but having a child in secondary school is not a joke. I have been straining all this time to ensure my child doesn't drop out of school. I really thank Give Directly for boosting me. I really feel relieved after paying the fee arrears
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months because I am planning to save and buy a water tank. I have been struggling for a long time now with carrying heavy jerrycans and walking long distances in search of water. I had started developing back pains as a result of this. I can't afford to pay for my medication when these conditions worsen that is why I want to buy this water tank as soon as possible. I can't wait to have water at the doorstep after suffering for all these years

My new goal is to plant tea. Currently, I do not have a reliable source of income and believe that when I get to plant some tea which is now ready for transplant, I will expect in a few years to come I will have a reliable income from selling Green tea leaves.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life is that I got to take my child to college. We had formed a merry-go-round where each member contributes KES 15000 and luckily, I was the one receiving the collection in the month of January. This comes timely when my child had just received a calling letter to join college and I was wondering how I would raise the school fees. I received a total of KES 30000 which was enough to pay her school fees for two semesters. This really made me happy as I wasn't able to raise such amount at once.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would like to start planting short season cash crops like potatoes and beans to help me raise money for paying school fees for my child who recently joint college.
