What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on buying sand, gravel, and cement which I used to cement my old house. Since my first wife passed on, I converted that house to be exclusively used by my children because going to spend at my neighbors' home was so hectic to them. I also spent the second transfer to build a new house for my second wife who at first was spending in my old house because she did not have her own. Lastly, I used the remaining transfer to buy maize and watermelon seeds. Although, there was inadequate rain during the last season, I was able to obtain a good harvest from my maize plantation.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in ensuring that its transfers are sent directly to the intended recipients and this has proven beyond doubt that it is a corruption free organization. I have not seen what GiveDirectly does not do well.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received transfers from GiveDirectly since I spent part of the transfers to purchase some masonry tools. I am a mason but for a long time, I have not been doing masonry work because I never had tools. I am grateful to GiveDirectly because from the transfers, I have managed to acquire new tools thus I can easily do masonry work without asking for tools from a neighbor who used to charge me heavily whenever I borrowed his tools.
