Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I always go at the network coverage area to check my phone to see if GD has sent my transfer. On November 19, I went at the network site to check, because I know how to read and write, I quickly read the message that said that I have received my transfer from GIVE DIRECTLY. I was so excited from the message I read, I ran immediately to husband to tell him about the news and right there we started to make plans for the transfer we received.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life now is that I am now debt free and I can walk boldly in this community without thinking if someone is gossiping me. Another big difference is, I wake up every morning with hope and confidence in myself knowing that I am free and have more better things to do in my life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I pay debt that I was owing in my savings club. I bought food, clothes and sandals for my baby.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"If God help us get this money our plan is use portion to buy a piece of land in Monrovia for our children and use some to buy goods for our shop here. Though we were not lucky to get land from our parents which make things hard for us.Today, to give your children good education you will have to send them to Monrovia, but not having your own house will be hard. Before my husbands illness 3 years ago, three of our children were sent to Monrovia for school. Because we have no house in Monrovia, we rented place for them and paid for their schools. If we had inherited land from our parents, we could it developed and the issue with living place wouldn't have been an issue. Since my spouse under went surgery in June making him unable to engage in active farm work like before, we couldn't rent a place due to no money. The childrens school stopped because they are not able to pay both rent and school fees. Getting a piece of land for our children will help reduce the burden for their children. If they get money of their own they will only think on building house that could help their children by not renting or living with relatives. Land has a long term benefit that can be given our children as life time inheritance. We also decide to use portion of the money to buy goods for our shop to start selling to have money to support our family and send our children back to school. Since we built our shop there's no money to sell. My husband was told not to do hard work because of his health condition, which makes things difficult for us.To feel the family it's hard, and to pay our children school fees it's not easy. At least if we can put money in the shop, the profit can be used for family support as well as supporting our children in school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
"My happiness since the last 6 months was when my husband when my husband successful under went surgery two times in June of this year. Though he's can't do anything, but the fact that he's came out from the hospital, it was a joy for me. Also hearing news about Give Direct money is another happy thing that has happened to us We are happy because it's hard to see this ever in our lives. To get money from people you were not expecting, it's worth happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"The challenges we facing now is the lack of money to get food and paying our children school. Since my spouse took sick and was advised from doing hard work, things became difficult for us. To feel the family and pay our children school fees it's not easy. We sold vegetables, and used the money to feed the family and support our children education until 3 years ago when my husband got sick and undergo medical surgery. since then we started facing money problem. Making farm and garden have become difficult. We paid people to make our farms, and the care is not like before where my husband took full control of everything. Things have changed making it hard to manage the farm. We get nothing good from the farm that is able to take care of daily needs before taking about our children school. We hardly eat on time, our children have to stopped school and live with friends and families being that we can't afford to get money from the farm again. This situation worries me a lot. Seeing my husband unable to do hard work, brings tears to me. I almost borrow everything from my parent and his family. Since we built our shop, there's no money to buy goods to sell. So, lack of money to get food and pay our children school fees are the challenges facing us now
