How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Since I received a proper medication which I was able to get after I received my transfers, I now feel better and can do farming and other home chores like before.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly did well by coming to our village and teaching us about the programme. This helped some of us whom we have heard rumours that the programme was devil's. Most of us embraced the teaching and accepted to be enrolled. Give Directly should have followed upon those who misused their transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I received my transfers when I was unwell. I had been in and out of hospital without assistance since I had little money to pay the fees. When I received the money, I went to see a specialist who examined my condition and prescribed medicine which helped me a lot. Since then, I recovered and now I can do my duties as it was before. The remaining portion I spend on buying some maize for consumption since we had no food at that time. I was happy that we didn't slept hungry as with would have been were it not for the transfers.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is improved health. I am happier and stress-free than before courtesy of GiveDirectly. I can even sleep peacefully. Earlier I used to be troubled because the medicine I was using used to cause fast heartbeats and discomfort. When I got a second opinion at a better medical facility, the previous medication was discontinued and I was given a different kind. It is working well. I am happy about this. No more losing breath and chest pains. The transfer enabled me to afford the treatment otherwise I would still be struggling with what I initially had. Thank you for the transfer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was happy to receive GiveDirectly transfer. My child had been chased home from school for lack of fee and I was excited because GiveDirectly sent us a 'means' of taking her back to school the same day!
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first transfer that GiveDirectly sent me on medicine and hospital bill because I have been suffering heart problem. I was able to get good medicine that has made me stable because I used to be unable to breathe nor sleep on one side due to severe chest pain. The funds helped me and now I can sleep on both sides. No more breathing problems too having been attended to. I also paid school fee for my child in school and bought food, a goat and chicken as an investment. I have saved some cash for the next check up. Thank you for the funds because things had been tough for us due to lack of funds.
