How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now because I see a big change in terms of stress. I'm no-longer stressed on how I could get back my land, buy household items and Livestock that I lacked previously. I live a more comfortable life because I managed to off set debts enabling me have full ownership of my gardens. Previously, Life was so difficult to extent that I survived on casual labor to get some income to provide for my family. This is now history to me because, These transfers have liberated me from that shameful casual work I used to do.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD did very well support me with transfers which enabled me pay off my debt that gave me full ownership of my land. These transfers helped me acquire livestock, Renovate my house and have some new household items i.e bed sheets, bed and mattress. In addition to that, GD did well to transfer cash to us because most people in my community did not have sources of income to support their families. In my view, GD did well because everyone in the community embraced the program and those who couldn't educate their children were able to pay school fees for them.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to Pay off my debt which I acquired and handed over my two gardens to the money lender as collateral security. I used this money for a marriage ceremony of my son. Secondly, I used this money for renovating my house as the floor and wall were not worked on. I also bought and installed a new and strong door to my house. lastly, I spent the remaining money to purchase household items like Bed, bed sheets and mattress.
