What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a polygamous family who has three mates and we reside in our various houses . In 2017, my spouse Jacob Nyepan constructed a house with sticks and mud with thatched roof and it broke down late 2021 because of many leakages it has . I have been contemplating on how to construct a modern house with a corrugated sheets on roof. With the opportunity to receive an unconditional cash transfer from GiveDirectly I will build a house with a corrugated sheets on roof with 50% of any amount received. I will use 25% of said amount to enlarge my garden to yield large proceeds and subsequently use the balance 25% to pay workers to make a large farm which some of the produces will be sold to establish myself a shop business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
At the evening hours of the day I am always happy after returning from my farm or garden and are residing with my children. The evening hours can mostly be used to say stories to my children which reduces my stress of miserable living conditions and all the hard working for the day .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Throughout my life I have been living in a house built with mud and thatched on roof with my spouse. Every rainy season has been a nightmare for me because of the many leakages on the roof of my house. I am now a display in my Sister-in-law (Precious Nyepan) house because my house is delapetated and is under renovation. My spouse and I along with our children have always faced perpetual challenges with moving our belongings from one side of the house to another coners during rainy season because of the leakages . This difficult condition of living in a delapetated structure has ruin my life that I always felt I am not important in society . And this is my main challenge did face since my spouse and I got together about 22 years now .
