Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Due to the aid I got from GiveDirectly, I was able to acquire a water tank for myself. This has really changed my daily life since I no longer travel for a long distance looking for water. I now use the time I usually use going to fetch water in doing some other work.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 3 am when I received two messages and upon reading its content, I was overjoyed since one of the messages indicated that I had received some money from GiveDirectly. I then woke up my husband so that I could share the good news with him since I could not wait any longer. We then prayed to thank God for His blessings upon our family on that beautiful morning since we did not want to disturb our neighbors who were still sleeping.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
For so many years, I have been dreaming of building a granary so that I can use it in storing maize during harvest season but I had not been able to achieve this due to lack of funds. When I received my first transfers, I used part of it in building it. I also spent some amount in buying a calf to act as an investment in remembrance of GiveDirectly. I spent the remaining amount in buying water tank so as to use it in storing water during rainy season.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My desire has always been to buy a water tank for my family. We always go past three kilometres to fetch water which is always contaminated and in turn affect us healthwise. However, the Kenya Red cross has come in hand to ensure that we get supplied with water in our village. I will use the money from GD to buy a 4000 litres water tank and buy pipes to supply water direct to my homestead.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My usual day entails waking up at 6.00am to prepare breakfast for my family and engage in my household chores through out the day. I am a housewife while my husband works as a maize miller in the nearby shopping center and he is the bread weaner of our family. I am always happy in the evening since this is the time he comes home with food, an assurance that we won't sleep on empty stomachs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I have two children who completed collage in the year 2014 yet they are still unemployed. I was yearning to see my children getting the education that would in turn get them employed and this forced me to sell cattle and a piece of land which i initially used to practice my dairy farming in. All that worries me is when my children will get employed in order for them to survive on their own as well as buy me back the piece of land i had sold earlier to enable me to continue with my farming.
