How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If I could not have received the transfer I am very sure I could not have manage to take my child to school, she could have dropped out of school and I could have been the laughing stock in the village.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very well by give people money directly and not involving other people in between, it was also a good idea that the money was unconditional because it allowed me to plan things on my own without restrictions. I did not see what give directly did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
My daughter passed her primary school level very well but I could not managed to take her to high school, this is because I did not have any money being that I did not have a stable source of income. She was almost dropping out of school but by good luck I got the cash transfer from Givedirectly. I could not think if anything a part from taking my daughter to school and so when I got the money I spent most of it to pay her school fee. The remaining balance I spent to buy for her some school equipments that were required. I am the most happiest person because I have managed to take my daughter to boarding school that so many people long to do. My daughter now has very conducive area of learning.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I have always felt life is unfair because the condition of my house has not been pleasant. I have lived in a house with a leaking roof for the last eight months and I have always felt very miserable. The roof had been leaking and the mud on the walls kept on falling off. I feared one day it will fall on me. I kept on working hard through casual work to raise money for that is the only way I could raise money but I was not successful. When I received this transfer, I first thought of repairing my house so that I could live in a comfortable house. I bought iron sheets, nails and roofing timber which I used in replacing my leaking roof. Since I did this, I have been feeling at peace because my biggest worry has been solved. Surely, Give Directly is a life changer.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I confirmed I had received money from Give Directly, I, for a long time, fell peaceful in my life. I did not know how to express my happiness. I knew with this money, I would be able to solve my issues easily for I had the solution in my hands. I really appreciate God for Give Directly.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying building materials such as iron sheets, nails and roofing timber which I used to replace my leaking roof. I have had to cover my household properties whenever it's raining because they would be rained on even being in the house. The house too was very weak, especially on the walls, and so I decided to buy cement and sand which I used to plaster my house. Right now, I feel safe in it after putting a new roof and plastering the walls. It is stronger than before I got this transfer. The remaining part of my transfer, I spent on paying school fees for my son and daughter, who had been sent home for the same. They had stayed home for a week yet examination time was approaching and I feared they may miss examinations because of the same.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a positive step in my life. I shall spend my transfer on educating my school going children since I have been overburdened with fee arrears.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when a new day just begins. Morning hours provide me with an opportunity to plan for my daily activities thus I feel optimistic to pursue and accomplish all my daily goals.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hard I face is continuous struggle to pay school fees to my children due to hard economic times we have been experiencing. I do not have a reliable job and the casual labour I rely on does not fetch me enough money to pay school fees.
