How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My standard of living has improved because I have acquire household items that I did not have before. These include clothes, bedsheets, 3 mattresses and utensils. I feel proud because I can serve my visitors with nice utensils and I have an extra mattress for them. In addition to these, I have bought an ox that will be used for ploughing. I shall no longer hire oxen since I have my own.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly did well to sensitise us to keep our phones and pins numbers safe which saved us from thieves. secondly the sensitised us to be aware of fraudsters. Every thing is good, there is nothing that they did bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used only UGX 32,000 to support my familt during the burial of my mother. I have not yet spent UGX 1,600,000 but I intend to used it for constructing an iron roofed house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the great and improved sleeping condition in my house since I was able to buy mattresses that were a big challenge in my house. Prior to receiving this money, my six children had to sleep on papyrus mats and the sight of them in the morning was not pleasant. They would have marks of the mat on their bodies.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I felt happy receiving this kind of financial help.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to buy a bull at Ugx 700000. I also through my husband bought some household items such as four mattress, two pairs of bed sheets, Utensils, and food. I am saving up Ugx 500000 that I will use as need arises.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will buy oxen for ploughing. With oxen, one can plough a bigger portion of the garden compared to using handhoes. My family also does not have enough household items. Therefore, part of this money will be used to purchase items like beddings, cooking utencils, etc. If at all there is a balance left, I will also buy goats which can be sold in times that the family needs money for treatment in case a family member falls sick.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is evening. This is the time when I'm done with all my daily work. We chat as afamily in this part of the day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship currently is sickness. Most of my family members are sick and I don't have money for treatment.
