Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment when I received my first cash transfer I felt so excited and happy because this money meant a lot to my household...I have never thought that I would ever have such a huge sum of money, I'm forever grateful.

The biggest difference is that I now have sufficient food such that I am now able to eat three times per day as opposed to how I used to eat before I started receiving these payments.
All my life I have never slept on a mattress but with the coming of Givedirectly, I was able to buy a big mattress and i'm now able to sleep comfortably without any worries.

With my first cash transfer I managed to procure a few construction materials such as iron sheets and timber as I'm planning on building a new house..
I bought a new mattress and a few kitchen utensils such as plates and pots which I never had in my household.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will mean alot to me because all these years I have been struggling to build a bigger house, now that i have this opportunity, I will be able to build a new house with iron sheets since my house leaks during rainy season and live/ sleep comfortably .
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months there is nothing that has brought me joy since I lost my husband because he was the one who was providing all the basic needs.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The challenges I have been facing is that I am struggling to take care of my children, struggling to pay school fees for them as well as feeding them properly.
