Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before receiving this transfer, I used to farm late because I had to wait for the owner of the oxen to plough first . However, this cash transfer has enabled me acquire an ox that is going to make me plough on time. In addition, I repossessed my farm land which I had used as security for the loan. The challenges I used to experience while farming are no more thanks to GiveDirectly.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the transfer, I felt very happy because I was going to buy a bull for ploughing my farm land and repossess my farm land.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I used my first transfer on buying a bull worth UGX 1,000,000, paid a debt worth UGX 400,000, bought clothing/household goods ( a mattress, pair of bed sheets and curtains) worth UGX 220,000 and bought food ( cassava flour, silver fish and beans) worth UGX 80,000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to buy oxen and an ox-plough that can support cultivation. The piece of land that I have is small but I have a feelling that I would effectively use it if I had oxen. I believe my dream of owning oxen at some point in time will come to pass when I get transfers.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am at the centre drinking with friends. I drink, dance and feel relaxed.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of oxen. The piece of land that I have is small but atleast good enough to sustain my household. However, I am not in position to maximumly utilise it because I don't have oxen that would support in opening up fields. Some times I have tried using a how but this does not help that much. Food shortage has always been the result. This is caused by late cultivation just for cases where I am able to hire. Oxen can only be released after the owners are done with their work(cultivation).
