How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Through the transfers I got from Give Directly, I was able to raise enough money to purchase building materials that I used to construct a new house. My life has changed a lot as a result of this since I can now afford to sleep comfortably. We no longer get distracted during the winter season because we now have an ironed roofed house. In addition to that, I was able to clear the school fees for my child. This enabled him to sit for his examinations.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I managed to complete building a new house although the money I had was not enough to plaster it. I, therefore, have a new goal to save some money so that I can use it to purchase cement and sand which I'll use to plaster the house. Since plastering is a long term solution to constant repair of the mud-walled house. I believe the house will last longer compared to the house I was living in previously.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Previously I used to live in an old house that was in a very bad condition. I could always be rained and I really dreaded the winters season. The house I had was a grass-thatched with a leaking roof. Being that grass is currently scarce, it was hectic and expensive to repair it. I'm glad this is not the case anymore because through the Give Directly transfers I was able to purchase building materials (iron sheets, nails, timber) which I have already used to construct a new house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Farming is the most lucrative income-generating activity in our area. My neighbors have been getting good farm produce through the help of One-Acre-Foundation. Therefore, I have plans of joining the foundation with the hopes of getting a good harvest. I will keep a few bags until there is high demand and then sell it when the prices and demand are higher. I believe this business will be able to sustain me and meet most of my needs and goals.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have accomplished several goals ever since Give Directly came into our lives. Not only do I feel proud for relieving my spouse from the struggle of smearing the house with cow-dung despite her old age but also managed to buy a few cattle. I was able to cement our house with the previous transfers. Apart from that I also bought a few goats. I consider this as an investment because goats gives birth to multiple young ones and they also give birth twice a year. I thank Give Directly for giving me the support to accomplish all these within a short period of time.

I have always considered cows as an investment worth risking for because they provide milk both for family consumption and for sale. In addition to that they multiply within a short period of time. For the next four months of my life I have a new goal of saving some money so that I can use it to purchase a few cows. I the space and technique to keep the cows. I have all it takes to own one its only that I did not have the means to buy them. I am glad I will soon be among the few people who own cattle in this village
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Both my spouse and I are old, we can't do heavy duties because our muscles are now weak. I always empathized with my wife whenever she had to look for cow-dung to repair the walls so that it could look presentable. She used to struggle so much to carry the dung from the cowshed then mixed it with soil. She used to force her self to do all these because she likes it when her surrounding looks neat and tidy. Since she did not have the means to employ someone, she had to do it by herself. I'm happy that she will no-longer go through the struggle again. This is because I was able to use the recent transfers to purchase cement and sand that I have already used to cement the house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have saved enough money and bought a cow. Cows have several benefits that is why I am working very hard to achieve this goal. I know six months is enough to save the required amount to purchase a mature cow. I have already built a cowshed and collected several sacks of hay. I only need to accumulate more money and buy the cow.

In the last four months preceding the current transfer, the biggest difference in my life is owning an iron-roofed house. I saved my transfers and used them to buy iron sheets which I used to build my new house. I was previously living in a grass thatched house which was old, weak and leaky. In the next six months, I expect to buy sand and cement to plaster the house I currently live in. Plastering my house will relieve her from such a regular but tedious work.
