How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than it would have been if I never received the transfer is that I paid school fees for my children on time. I am so happy because they were able to sit for there exams.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by giving money to poor people in society to improve their standard of living. I do not find anything that was not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend the second transfer to pay school fees for my children in secondary school and in college and the rest of the money I used it to buy a dairy cow and food for the family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the economic progress. Life is now better for us. We burnt the rags we had; now have new clothes and a totally new look as a family. I believe that GiveDirectly is God-sent, long-live GD! (in tears).
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 4 AM when I received the cash that GiveDirectly sent me. I was so happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
First, I want to say thank you to God and GiveDirectly. I spent the first transfer to build a house - buying timber and iron sheets. I have demolished the old thatched house. It was leaking. Requests to pray on phone...Sobbing..." God is not mean indeed, He is gracious. " I also bought food, paid school fee for my child, bought clothes and a mattress. The house is almost done (we lived in my son's hut as we wait to finish the new one). We even gathered the rags we had and burnt them to signify a new beginning for us. GiveDirectly lifted us from a rut of poverty and darkness (tears).

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to be among those who will benefit from this cash transfer. Now I'll be able to uplift myself financially by starting a small business and build a nice house for my family. Thank you very much GD.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am back from my carpentry work and have met my daily sales target for the furnitures.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Not so long ago, I used to be a carpenter and through this work I could be able to fend for my family. One day as I was coming back from my place of work, I was involved in an accident and I got serious injuries on my left foot, mouth and chest. Luckily enough it was not fatal and I managed to get medical attention on time. Due to the extend of the injuries, I was rendered unable to continue working for an extended period of time and thereby not able to provide for my family. This for me is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
