How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have a new goal New goal is to build a rental house in the village. I trust that this will boost my living standard in such a way that I will not have to strain on paying school fees for the three children especially when they transition to higher institutions and meet other household expenses.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly's plan to give cash transfers is the best decision ever. This is because we were all given equal chances to choose what to purchase according to our needs. I have therefore not seen or heard anything that GiveDirectly need to change so far. long-time
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying one dairy cow at KES 18000. I trust that this will uplift my living standards by selling the milk and generate an income which will enable me to cater for my family's needs without having to struggle like before. I also bought seeds, and fertiliser, and cleared the water bill for the kitchen garden project that I had launched initially. I am glad that, in a few days to come, I will start selling vegetables from my farm and earn a living. Additionally, I bought uniforms and cleared fees of KES 5000 for my three children who are in primary schools. I am now at peace knowing that they are studying comfortably without straining. With the remaining amount of money, I had to buy foodstuffs for my five family members.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I had already made plans and quickly got down to implementing the plans that I had. I never wanted to miss out on any of my plans and I made sure that I stuck with all my plans.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life is the fact that I can now take my children to school and I also arrive at my work place in time. The motorcycle that I bought has really made our lives much easier and I cannot stop being grateful. Were it not for GiveDirectly then I honestly do not know how things would have been
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 32000 to buy a motorcycle and used the remaining amount to pay bills and advance my agricultural practices. The motorcycle that I bought was meant to ease movement of my children to and from school and to also facilitate movement of agricultural produce for selling. I am so happy that my children no longer report to school late and I too am able to get to my workplace much earlier than I used to. We are so grateful for GiveDirectly for this.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I have three projects in mind two are currently running. One is a small farm where I plant vegetables for sale but because this place is prone to drought I had to do irrigation which is costly sometimes especially during dry seasons. Another one is keeping broiler chicken on a large scale but this is something that I have not ventured into so much due to lack of money. My dream has always been to expand these projects to serve a large number of people to get more income. Finally, I also want to make sure that my family never lacks, I have hopes that my projects will soon boom because of GD money meaning an increment in sales hence a good living style for my family. All these projects will cost around 100,000 KES then save 10,000 KES for food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
After a long time of drought finally, the rains came which improved my farming project and reduced my water bills thus increasing my income.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My farm project has started to fall apart because the water bill is getting too high due to the lack of rain. I am afraid if this continues I might have to pause the project because it is getting a toil in me. Lack of finances has played a bigger role in this too because I cannot have water without paying for the existing water bills.
