How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am a single mother and I live with my children at my parents home. We used to argue over daily expenditure since no one was willing to buy food on a regular basis. I always felt like a burden because I could not have my home and comfortably take care of my children. It was also difficult for me to cater to the whole families needs but I had to try because I did not have any other option. I am glad the help I normally get from Give Directly contributes a lot and I can sustain part of my parent, sister and my children's needs
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have been spending a lot on buying milk. I would like to buy my own cow in the next four months so that I would rarely have to buy milk. I am planning to save my next transfers so that I would be able to buy one. This will open doors for me because banks now accept cows as collateral. Once I come up with a good idea, I will take a loan to start a business. This will definitely improve our living standards and never depend on casual jobs for a living.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Since I started receiving the transfer from GD, I moved my children from a public school to a private school. I value education so much because it is the best inheritance I can leave to them. I always think that no one can rob them what they learnt; everything else can be taken away except knowledge and power. My goal now is to ensure they get quality education by taking them to good schools. I am now happy because after taking them to a private school they perform better. They can also read and write so well.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I do expect I will have bought a cow in the next six months. This means that I will not be spending much on purchasing milk. I will be saving the money which I would have spent on the same to achieve my other basic needs. I will also be selling milk in order to supplement what I will be getting from my daily hustle.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I have started a business of selling maize. Before I could do hard jobs to get the money to buy food for our family and sometimes I could not get those casual jobs. Currently, I have a good business at the center near home. This business is giving me an income daily to meet those needs.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new additional goals for your life for the next four months is that I will have saved some amount of money in the merry go round group to enable me to buy a dairy cow. Currently, we buy milk and its so costly for us. We will also be in a position to meet other basic household needs using the money we could have used to buy milk because at that moment we will be having a dairy cow.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer in that I pay school fees on time. Before my children could be sent home to collect school fees and this was demoralizing them. Their performance was poor because they could stay home until that moment I get the money. Currently, I pay school fees on time they are no longer being sent home for school fees. Their performance has improved because they now spent most of their time to study at the school. I am so grateful for the support from GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect your life to change in the next six months in that I will have bought a dairy cow and I will be no longer buying milk from my neighbors which is so costly. I will have also expanded my business of grocery and I will be saving some amount for school fees.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is the issue with school fees. There are no more sheep to sell yet my children need school fees in order to continue with their education. This makes me sad since i would like seeing my children attending school like their colleagues.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evenings. Whenever my children go to school in the morning, i am usually sad since i always think they will be sent home for school fees. In the evening, I'm usually happy when i see them coming home from school
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on paying school fees for my children and feeding them
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement i am proudest of is my decision to rear sheep. Whenever i need money to pay school fees for my children, i sell one of the sheep. Rearing sheep is my only hope in life so far n i don't regret my decision
