How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I was initially contemplating on how to aford my children's tuition especially as a widow. As you may know in Liberia once your husband died, many man will not want to inherit liability. Honestly, I got the money before deciding to renovate the house my late husband left with me. My goal has always been to pay my children's tuition.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I don't think that Givedirectly is not doing well. Givedirectly is doing more than well. I don't even know what to say because the question is somehow. Givedirectly came and selecting everyone in the town without discrimination.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The water normally enters the house during the reany season. This was my worry, but my hands were limited especially when there was no money to pay children tuition neither to talk about renovation. I directed my money to the renovation of the house and payed the children school fees as well as purchased food for the family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in my house some part of December and I heard my friends rejoicing and shouting that GiveDirectly has sent their transfer. However, upon hearing this good news, I called my son to check my phone to confirm if I have received my money too. As soon as he checked, he told me that GiveDirectly has sent your transfer, Mama. I felt very happy at that moment because I'm a widow and I have no one to help me. I have been striving to support my children and to renovate my house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before I could start receiving my transfer, I have been farming to sustain my children. I sometimes find it difficult as a single parent but with the help of GiveDirectly, I can say that I have been empowered to start a small business which is another source of income and my children and I are living happily.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the transfer to renovate my house, pay my children tuition and I bought goods for my business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
If I'm successful to receive money from Givedirectly, I will use some to pay my children tuition fees and add the balance to my business money which will bring joy to me. The reason I want to use some of the money to pay my children tuition fees and start a business is because, the money I earn from the bread I make is not enough to pay my children fees and make a large business . My daughter is not attending school this year because I don't have money to pay her fees. Since the death of my husband, I have been the only person struggling to Carter for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months, what has brought me joy or happiness is seeing my family and I alive and healthy. Eventhough I don't have enough money to pay my children tuition fees but I'm grateful that we are alive and healthy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I'm facing now is money. Eventhough I sell bread to sustain my family, the money I earn from the bread, I use it one food and other needs My children are in Monrovia with their grandmother and I'm the one responsible for their feeding and school. I send them to Monrovia to achieve higher education because, the school in this town stop to grade six and they're in higher class.
