How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
As started during my second interview, my goal is to build a house. My goal is to complete the renovation of my house. My goal has always been to have decent and reputable house to live in and to keep my children in school. After I received the money from GiveDirectly, I use portion of it to renovate our house and portion was used to keep the children in school. I am so happy that what I had desired long time ago to have a zinc house has come true by the help of GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
By giving me the cash and allowing me to decide what to do with it is one of the things that the organization has done well. In addition, not only transferring the cash but coming to make sure that the cash transferred has reached the rightful person. Absolutely nothing wrong I have seen on the part of the organization.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I was able to buy zinc with my last transfer.Through the transfer I was able to buy, nails, cement, and few pieces of planks to be added to the remainder planks I bought early to renovate my house. For many years now I have been living in this house with my family. Often times when the rain is falling we are forced to change the position of our important belongings to avoid them being damage by the rain waters. Most importantly, my children are happily in school because I have paid their balance school fees.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I needed money to buy building materials to contruct a 3 bed room apartment for my family to move in. I tried to increase my farm and to tripple the number of hours worked daily just to raise enough money and get my building project underway. Nonetheless, I couldn't raise the total amount of money required for my dreams to be fully realized. I however, received my transfer from GiveDirectly with in that same time frame. It all seems unreal and I became so excited by the fact that I have gotten all the money I ever needed to get my project started. I am so delighted about this opportunity provided me by GiveDirectly.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving transfer from GiveDirectly has been the fact that l am able to initiate my 3 bedroom house project without borrowing money or awaiting any other external source of income. I was also able to pay huge number of men power to expand my farm. I am so pleased to have benefited from this grant given me by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My ambition to build a three bedroom apartment for my family to move has always been on my mind daily . Therefore, when I received my transfer from GD, I bought 2 bundles of zinc for 22,000LD. Furthermore, I used the other portion of my transfer to pay enough man power that would clear two parcels of land I have reserved for the expansion of my farmland. GiveDirectly is indeed a huge blessing to me and my family. I appreciate all they do!

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Since 2016 I stop receiving parental support and started to struggle on my own for survival. Three years later I took on added responsibility, I then engaged a girl I was in love with. From then onward things has been really difficult, I have had so many plans of improving my life but due to lack of financial support they have all failed. Receiving this money from GiveDirectly will help me to achieve those plans, some of which are to built my own house because right now I'm sleeping in my father big sister house and I can be thrown out at any point in time. I also want to start my own business that will enable me to always have cash on hand in case of emergency.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have had so many challenges as a young man, most especially I just lost my first child in death but seeing my wife moving strong is a source of joy for me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since my childhood I have always been wanted to achieve higher education but due to lack of financial support I have been unable to do that. The issue of housing is another challenged that I have been face with over the years. There is no food and clothing.
