It has been a great joy to my household seeing all the amazing projects that we have managed to accomplish after receiving both the transfers from GiveDirectly. This support has seen us take huge steps ahead and encouraged us to even work harder in other sectors that we had lost hope in. At the moment, I have a new goal to support my spouse to join a course of her dream that she has been praying for since she completed her secondary studies. Upon receiving the second transfer, I had a lot to do and I am grateful that I finally accomplished them with the help of my supportive spouse whom I was planning with. I started with the construction of a dam currently filled with rainwater and is so useful to my livestock that I am no longer taking them to the river as I used to before. The labor charge I incurred in digging and setting up outlets was KES3000. I also renovated the already constructed house that was already rusting on the roof and had to obtain new iron sheets and paid the labor at a total of KES22000. My house currently looks new on the roof, and even the rainwater that we are collecting is safe for use in the household as they are free of rust. With the plans that we had in place, we also managed to obtain a heifer at KES13000 as we have depended so much on buying milk that was so expensive, injected KES5000 into the small business that my wife started after the first transfer, and used the remaining amount on obtaining household goods.

The moment I received the transfer I felt so happy. I remember very well that it was around 9:25 am in the morning when I heard a ringtone message from my phone. I do casual jobs in the village and small scale farming. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family. I used to wake up very early in the morning to look for a job and sometimes I could not get it. My family could go hungry. When I received the transfer I found it wise to invest in income generating project. We had discussed this with my spouse and agreed on selling maize. Currently we get some profits from this and we save some and invest back some to expand the business. My children are no longer go hungry. I have devoted much of my time doing this business. I wish to grow it to meet all the demand of my customers. I have hope that I will sell other serials also and even start a retail shop .I am so grateful for the support because GiveDirectly has given us hope to work hard and ensure that we provide for our families.
