How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I never had enough money to pay my children tuition for this academic year. Furthermore, my house is very old and needs to be renovated. In doing so, I bought 2 bundles of zinc ($21,000LD) to roof my house. I also used a huge portion of my transfer to pay my children yearly tuition for this academic year. I am grateful to GD for transforming my life through their great financial assistance.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
First of all, I am so delighted and grateful to have benefited from this program. From my own own judgement, GD has been fair in all they do. All of their undertakings thus far has been awesome.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have been pondering on how to raise enough money to pay my children tuition. I also needed to purchase 2 bundles of zinc to roof my house. Therefore, as soon as I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I bought 2 bundles of zinc for $21,000LD. Similarly, a huge portion of my transfer was used to pay my children yearly tuition. It is so amazing to see how much my life has changed with GD's financial support.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My goal remains the same. That is, to have my new house completed before the program can end. As seeing the house I am living in with my family is a dubbed stick house that is already falling apart. I am so grateful that GiveDirectly had me enrolled into the program as one of the recipients.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by giving every eligible households the needed amount to help improve their living conditions. Few months from now this hold community will have no thatch house. GiveDirectly is changing lives greatly by helping the poor with money to get out of poverty. In my opinion, GiveDirectly does not have anything wrong with it workings.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Like I said from the first question asked, my mind is fixed on completing the construction of my new house. Mean while, I did spend portion of my most recent transfer on the purchase of zinc and nails. The balance was used to buy a mattress and a radio. I want to be inform about happenings in and around the country that's why I bought the radio.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have had one goal before recieving this transfer and it is still that goal, I am working to achieve. I have been thinking of build a new house but finance has been my challenge in achieving my plan. This house is no longer guarantee for me and my children to live in. I more often ask some family members to help me do some renovation works on it especially when the rainy season is nearing. Now that I have this amount of money been given me by GiveDirectly, I am going to demolish the old house and build a new one. I am very happy to be on this cash transfer program. May the almighty God richly bless GiveDirectly for helping me and my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by not discriminate in their cash transfer program. GiveDirectly also has well trained staffs who are human center. In addition, it allows the beneficiaries to decide by themselves what to do with their payments. Moreover, GiveDirectly goes to communities that are hard to reach. The staffs take risk that other humanitarian organizations staffs are not willing to do. To be real to you, I have not seen anything yet that GiveDirectly is doing wrongly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my first payment to buy three bundles of zinc for the new house I am building. With the recent transfer, I will buy one bundle of zinc, nails, cement and planks. I wonder how things would be like for me if GiveDirectly had not come to this community with this opportunity. I had no hope of getting money from anywhere at anytime to build a new house. I thank GiveDirectly ever so much this money. I am to spend every cent that GiveDirectly is giving me on things that will make my household's life a better one.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was a moment of unspeakable Joy for me. I was trying to prepare food for my kids when I heard a loud noise from other villagers about GiveDirectly cash transfer message alert. Knowing that I am a recipient of the cash transfer, I hurriedly ran for my phone to check my message for GiveDirectly Lonestar MTN Mobile Money cash alert. I am a single mother with 5 kids. Taking care of these children has been a very big challenge. There were months that I couldn't buy slipper to place on my feet.Their education and career path is my biggest desire. I love my kids and want to give them a better future. Even though I have all these goals, I couldn't achieve them because of finances. The condition of my house is very bad. My children were at the brank of missing out on school this calendar school year. Am grateful to GiveDirectly for selecting me as a recipient and that my village was in selected as a recipient village.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Now in my daily life, the biggest difference is that I don't feel stressed anymore. Those conditions that I mentioned to you are something that always stressed my out. I go to bed but don't sleep. I eat yet I get slim. I went Many months with no slipper to Wear. My primary goal was my kids. Since I lost their Father, their responsibility has rest squarely on my shoulders. However, since I received my first transfer, it has been a different experience all together. I have purchased some bundles of Zinc to start building my new house. My children are currently in school and finally I was able to use the remaining amount to start a new business to help maintain my family. This is unspeakable for me. I feel so overwhelmed by this guesture from an NGO call GiveDirectly. This is not a normal NGO pattern of helping humanity. This is something we hope to see in other NGOs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Due to the bad condition of my house, my primary goal is to build a new house. I bought 3 bundles of Zinc, some food and register my kids in school. I also pay their tuition fees. I feel so much relief with this initial transfer from GiveDirectly. It's so exciting to be a part of this big family. I have suffered as a single mother bringing up my children. I had to do everything including buying clothes and food for them and getting them good education. We currently live in a misshaped house. The condition of the house is so bad that when rain falls, everything get wet. My children become sick from this condition. I was also able to use the remaining of the money to start a new business. I am very aware that GiveDirectly won't be with us long. I appreciate the help they have given me, but I think maintaining myself going forward is also my personal engagement. I don't want to fall back to where I was before meeting GiveDirectly.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
For me my plan number one is to go to a very good hospital and get good treatment. Because gere in a area to get real treatment when you are sick is not easy especially when you don't have money. Secondly to build a portable house and the remaining one for business. All these plans are on my mind but no money, and today I know that the help you people have come to offer will give my a positive life changing story. I will be a big business woman and a house owner.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am sick and looking for money to take treatment and today Give Directly has come with this good news I am happy because all my problem will solve. I will get good treatment, get good market to do a built a house is not that a happy news. This news is the happiest ever.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
All I will say is money. Do you know why, because before you go to hospital for treatment you need money, to do business you need money and to build you also need money. That is reason I said money is my current challenge I faced with day by day.
