How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Yes, I didn't have a plan to renovate my house before receiving the transfer. I am blind and I never thought that I will get such an amount in my life. Now that GiveDirectly has given me money, I can now improve my house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am very poor and unwell. I could not send my children to school but I can now eat good food regularly and send my children to school because of GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought Zinc and hired labourers who will renovate my house.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was in my house when I heard my neighbour yelling that Give Directly has sent her transfer, upon hearing her, I sent for my son to check my message if my transfer has been sent. When he checked my message, he told me the I had money in my account. Right away I felt over happy because it was my very first time to benefit from NGO and I couldn't afford my children tuition and the cost to treat my eyes.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
At first, my daily life has been full of sorrow because of my illness. I could not pay for my schooling and I could not afford the cost to treat my eyes. But Give directly has made me important in society. Since I received my transfer, my son fee was paid on time and I have the hope that my eyes will be treated in the soonest.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my transfer to pay my son tuition, to buy food for my family and to pay my hospital bill

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My plan is to help pay my son school fees and also to the eye clinic treatment.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Let me first say thank God for life, but I tell you the truth, since I got this eye problem, I've not been happy and nothing else has brought me joy or happiness. Only today I'm happy because of the phone Givedirectly is giving me and the good news about the cash transfer. I strongly believe that my dream have come to pass because I will have some money to go to hospital for treatment.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"As you can see, I've been facing serious problem with my eyes since 2018 that is leading me to blandness gradually. Since I got ill, I've not been able to go to hospital for checkup because of lack of money. My partner abandoned me with the children in this condition. The only person that I have to help me with little garden inorder to get food is my son Sekou.
