Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The big difference now is that I have farm land which I got on mortgage. I gave the owner money UGX 400,000 in exhange of the land, he can reposses it once he pays back my money. I believe the land going to benefit me as I will be farming on it for the next years. Previously I had one acre of land that I planted avariety of crops and due to poor mixing , I got poor yields.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received the money, I was suprised because I had not received much money ever since I was born. GiveDirectly is such a unique organisation beacause they do things differently.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer for starting up a project of rearing turkeys at UGX 800,000. I bought food at UGX 200,000, mattress, utensils and jerrycans at UGX 200,000, saved UGX 400,000 and spent UGX 100,000 on treatment.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house, buy oxen that will support in farming and take care of the education needs of my children. I believe this way, this money will support my family better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the noon time when I am listening to family programs over the radio. I feel my family is as well advised.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is inadequacy of land for cultivation. I have only one garden which is not enough to take care of my farming needs. Some times I try to hire land from else where but this is expensive for me knowing that I have other household needs to provide and the fact that I don't have any clear source of income.
