How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now much much stable. The program found me in dire poverty, with no home and no income. But now with these funds I am confident that I will soon move into my own house. My brother has housed my kids and I for a long time because we had absolutely nowhere to go and I am glad that that changes soon.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, give directly has rescued most families in my area from extreme poverty. If you came right now you'd find that people are much happier and can fend for themselves, indication that the program really went well in all aspects
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
As I want to build my own house, I have bought 50 bags of cement, nails in different sizes, and brick reinforcement wire so that the moment the rainy season is over I should immediately start building my house. I also bought food as well as clothes for my children. I am happy that I will soon move myself and my kids out of my brothers' house to our own stable home.
