How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
First and foremost, I am very happy that I sleep under a permanent house. This is a dream come true. I never had hopes of ever constructing a permanent house. Previously, my house was leaking and on the verge of collapsing on us. We had no financial strength to enable us maintain it. Secondly, I am happy that with the cash transfers I paid school fees. This issue of school fees used to stress us alot.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to sensitize people on how to manage their cash transfers. However, it is sad that some people were left out because of unfounded rumours. The staff need to be more vigilant during enrollment process.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second cash transfer was spent on purchasing iron sheets and timber and cement. Part of it was also spent on food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house, buy some cows that can reproduce and take care of future evetualities and provide the education needs of my children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I am with my children. I feel they are a blessing to me because not everyone is able to have a child.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money to provide the education needs of my children. I have many children who actually go to school but how to provide for them is a charllage. I do casual labour to earn some money. Some times I am forced to sell off food just to support them. This in most cases has brought about food shortage in my household.
