How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I feel so happy to see my children in school pursue their dream. I majorily depend on casual jobs and farming to support my family and meeting these needs has been challenging.Ever since I received unconditional cash from GiveDirectly, my children have had better time in school to study. I believe as a parent giving my children education is making them able to support themselves and the young ones. This a better life that want for my children that is why seeing children have good education has been the biggest in my daily life.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done an amazing job in our community. We have been able to support our families with ease since GD gave us support. We currently own good houses, livestock, improved our farming among other activities and asset. Personally, I don't have anything I am not happy with GiveDirectly's operations, I urge them to continue supporting the communities.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I made a decision to the larger part of my second transfer on farming. Being a farmer, investing more on farming gives me better returns to support my family.I bought a heifer, onions seedlings, lease a piece of land from a neighbor and other farm inputs. I am glad I have added an asset that will always rely on and I have good crops on farm. In addition, I used KES10000 to settle a dowry that had been long overdue.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My life has already changed after hearing the great news of unconditional cash transfers. Receiving this money means that I will get some relief from the routine casual work that we have always been relying on. I will builf our own house, buy a cow and do crop farming for a better living standard.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is at the morning when sharing breakfast with my happy family. This gives me hope and motivates me for the whole day.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Since separating with my wife about a year ago, our family has been experiencing tough challenges. Being the only breadwinner and caring for my four kids has been a great challenge. Besides, I feel that my kids may not attain quality parenting because I spend most of my time doing casual tasks to sustain my family.
