How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
After receiving this transfer, I have been relieved from the pressures of clearing the arrears I had regarding the purchase of a piece of land and paying fee arrears for my school-going children. Precisely, I have ceased to sell my property, including livestock, in an attempt to meet our financial demands. This would allow us to increase our wealth as the livestock multiply - signifying a more promising future.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by ensuring each person in the village receives the transfer. In that regard, no one would borrow or steal from the other, thus, allowing each recipient ample time to utilize their while transfer well. In my opinion, I GivedDirectly does everything perfectly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 200 USD of my second transfer on paying off an amount that was pending in a piece of land we had acquired. We had struggled in vain to clear the arrears. Besides, I spent 210 USD on clearing fee arrears for my 9 children who are schooling. Also, I utilized 70 USD on buying clothes for each of my family members because it has been a while since we managed to purchase new apparel. I used the remaining amount of about 50 USD on purchasing foodstuffs since we had no more stock.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was serving lunch when I heard a message notification on my phone. On seeing that it was the GiveDirectly transfer, I was overjoyed and called my husband who was also happy and praised God with me over the phone.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
We have been able to pay for a piece of land and now we have a place to plant food crops for our family to be food secure. The place we stay currently is too small to plant enough food crops because it has been subdivided severally. Thank you so much GiveDirectly and may you be richly blessed.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have been aspiring to purchase another dairy cow but due to lack of stable income we have not. Subsistence farming has been our main source of income but due to prolong drought the output has no been impressive. In 4 acre piece of land we could harvest 60 bags of maize but now sometimes you harvest 2 bags or non. Here I have two children who are at the secondary school and five others in primary level depending on this. Since it was no longer productive we change to dairy farming and it has been doing good. Incase, we get lucky to receive this transfer we will add another dairy cow and the remaining amount we pay school fees on time.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is usually in the evening when at home resting and preparing dinner for my family. Usually my day involves plough my farm manually in preparation for the next planting season. This work is so tiresome but no others since most our income goes to school fees payment.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of stable income has been our biggest hardship. Since subsistence farming has been our source of income, unfavorable weather conditions have affected the output. Recently due to prolonged drought, we harvest two sacks of maize in a 4-acre piece of land. With this I am supposed to pay school fees and also to buy medicine for my sick children.
