Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received my cash transfer, I felt so grateful and blessed..This was so because all my life I have never received such gift so it made me happy and I even shed tears.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving these payments is that I have enough food in my household as compared to the past..My children are able to eat three times a day and food is usually high in nutrients as recommended by medical personnel. Also, this rainy season I will be able to grow enough crops since I have fertilizer..In the past, I used to grow crops on a small piece of land as I could not afford to purchase fertilizer..All this has changed and I am grateful.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Firstly, I thought about the rainy season that is just around the corner, so I decided to procure fertiliser and seeds..I bought 2 bags of fertiliser at a total cost of $140 and I intend to grow maize on a larger piece of land so that in future I can be selling some. Secondly, I bought food i.e. bags of maize..I came to this decision because my family has been suffering a lot by not eating the required daily amounts of food per day..So the 6 bags of maize will help in resolving this problem.. I spent the other part of the money to purchase clothes and beddings for me and my kids..I bought dresses, shorts and t-shirts for my kids since they did not have enough clothes. Lastly, I saved about $50 which I intend to use by purchasing livestock such as goats in the following months.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Getting this money I will buy a bag of fertilizer firstly so that I have good harvests next year. I will also buy at least 5 bags of maize and use the rest of the money to start a business like cooking doughnuts so that profits from there can help me buy things like soap and other groceries.
What is the happiest part of your day?
There hasn't been anything to make is happy, especially since we're still mourning my husband's passing.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am currently facing food insecurity problems in my household. It's bad to that point of sleeping in empty stomachs. This is because I don't have money since I don't have a stable source of income. I sell glass and do casual work. When there's nothing out there then we don't have food for the house and sleep hungry. It's just me providing since my husband passed away 5 month ago. When he was alive he's fend for us and two hands are better than one.
