How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The only goal I have is to complete my house and move in with my household. Long before GiveDirectly came in my community, I had wished to have a house that will have at least three bed rooms. However, that wish was not achieved as farming is the only source of livelihood for my family. I am happy and greatful that the organization came and gave money that has helped me to build the house that I have long wished to have.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
What GiveDirectly does well, I can say that when the organization entered into this community, every house in this town was visited in order to determine eligible households. In this way, no household that deserves to be enrolled will be left out except where the household rejects to be enrolled into the program. In my opinion GiveDirectly as an organization working in my community has not done anything wrong.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The first transfer I received my wife and I decided to use part of it to pay our children's school fees and the balance that left I did buy two bundles of zinc, one mattress and utensils for the house. As the balance transfers were coming in, we decided my wife and I to buy other building materials such as cement, nails, planks, and additional two and a half bundles of zinc. I was able to pay the contractors who I hired to build my house from the last transfer. I was also able to buy food for the house.
