How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Having a decent wooden house is the best change and gift I have received through GiveDirectly's support . With this house ,it has bonded as more because we have dinner together where we check on each other .At the same time , staying in a clean environment has reduced hospital expenses unlike before where we were living in a dusty mud house which caused frequent visits to the hospital in relation to untidy environments . Secondly , I now have a dairy cow that I never knew I could afford .Thanks GiveDirectly .
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion , Without GiveDIrectly , I would not have raised such a huge amounts of money to build a more decent and comfortable house which I own now . I appreciate the extra mile that GiveDirectly's did through the teachings it gave by the use of brochure to guide its beneficiaries on best ways to spent this lump-sum amount.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my entire second transfer to build a two roomed timber walled house . I enjoy the luxury of staying in a clean environment unlike before when my family had frequent visits to hospital due to condition which were caused because of extreme exposure to dust . I have always desired to fit in like my other neighbors who had pretty decent houses unfortunately the income I got from working in the quarry warranted me to stay in a dusty mud grassed thatched house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Even though I have not started building a house for my family, seeing my building materials in my inlaws house always makes me happier than before. This materials always gives me joy and hope that my family will one sleep comfortably with no worry of being rained on at night especially during rainy season.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received my money at a time when I was going on with my daily activities. At that instant, I became so happy and I started singing praising God and asked Him to bless where it came from. For the whole week, my happiness I knew no bounds as this money meant new dawn in my life as I knew that this money will enable me actualize my plans.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have been living in a grass thatched house for so long. Due to lack of enough rains in our region, finding grass to replace the old ones every year had become a big problem. This led to my house leaking during rainy season making it difficult for us to sleep in as everywhere would be filled with water. When I received my first transfers, I spared some amount and used them to purchase building materials such as iron sheets, nails, timber, windows and doors which I kept at my inlaws house as they have a bigger one. Finding a Mason has been a big challenge as most people in our village are building new houses thus making them charge higher prices. This prompted me to buy materials and keep them so that I will start building my house in February when most people are done building theirs. I am planning to use the remaining amount which I saved in paying a mason who will come and build my house.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It has been my wish to build another house because we all live in a single hut. My children are now grown with my first born being 19 years of age and I wish that he gets a better place to live in rather than staying at the neighbours'. This means that i will use my first transfer to build another house and then consider buying a cow with the second transfer because the one i have belongs to a neighbour.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I usually spend the better part of my morning, around 9am to 11am helping my husband in blasting the stones into small sizes ready for sale. This makes me happy because i know that after the sales are made, we will have anough money to gather for the needs of our family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband does quarring of building stones and it is really a difficult task because it takes around five days to fill a trailer so that it can be sold and at times there is no ready market for the stones. Sometimes, this makes us go to bed with nothing to eat because it is an unstable source of income.
